Vincent Kompany, Michael Carrick and Mark Robins have been shortlisted for the esteemed EFL Championship Manager of the Season award. The announcement will be made at an elegant gala dinner on Sunday, 23 April at Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane.

Burnley's Kompany has guided them to Premier League promotion with seven games remaining, while Middlesbrough's Carrick has made an impact in his first full-time job. Coventry City manager Robins has also earned praise for his leadership during his second full season in charge of the Sky Blues.

Burnley

Vincent Kompany and Michael Carrick are in contention for the Championship manager of the season award, while Coventry City boss Mark Robins has also been shortlisted. The winners will be revealed at an impressive EFL Awards gala on Sunday, April 23.

Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town is in contention for the award with fellow League One managers Darren Moore of Sheffield Wednesday and Steven Schumacher from Plymouth Argyle.

Middlesbrough are in contention for a promotion spot, with Paul Heckingbottom leading the charge. He was named manager of the month for March.

Burnley are currently at the top of the Championship table after winning nine out of their last 10 matches in an incredible run to the top. Although their progress was temporarily hindered by a loss to Sunderland on Saturday afternoon, they remain on course to finish this campaign in the Premier League.

Manchester United and Manchester City have been well-represented this season in the EFL awards. Amad Diallo is up for Championship young player of the season, while Jose Mourinho's former assistant Kieran McKenna has been nominated for League One manager of the year with Ipswich.

Coventry City

Coventry City have enjoyed an exemplary season under manager Mark Robins. After finishing eighth in League One, he led them to promotion back into the Championship as League One champions.

Kompany Carrick has had a remarkable season since arriving from Middlesbrough, saving them from certain defeat after Chris Wilder was dismissed in October.

Despite a slow start to the season, he's already managed 16 wins and a draw to put his team in contention for promotion. As such, he could well be nominated as Championship manager of the Season after such an impressive campaign.

At the weekend, Coventry must win against Watford to remain in contention for the play-offs. They have now won two of their last four matches but remain six points adrift of the top six.

Nigel Pearson

Nigel Pearson has earned a reputation for being an uncompromising manager. He has held managerial posts at Leicester City, Southampton, Watford and Hull City as well as caretaking roles with Newcastle United and England U21s.

Pearson, 59, is currently managing Bristol City and has been their manager for two seasons. In 2014 he led Leicester to promotion and then helped them retain their top-flight status the following season.

He is one of three candidates for Championship manager of the season and has already made a positive impression on his players. The former centre-half has brought stability to the side, which is currently 18th with six points separating them from bottom-placed Wigan Athletic and Stoke in 17th.
