The Little American Shepherd, also referred to as the Miniature Australian Shepherd, is really a small herding dog breed which was produced in the United Claims in the 1960s. That breed was created by breeding smaller Australian Shepherds, of brought to America by Basque shepherds, so as to make a smaller variation of the type that has been more suitable for herding small livestock and taking care of small farms.

The Miniature American Shepherd is a highly intelligent and enthusiastic breed, noted for their excellent herding skills and their devotion to their owners. These pets are typically between 13 and 18 inches tall at the shoulder, and they consider between 20 and 40 pounds. They have a thick, double fur that may be either right or curly, and it comes in many different colors, including black, blue merle, red, red and merle.
