Everybody has their top list of fat burning foods, so we decided to add ours. These are all common foods we eat, but the way they're prepared and how much they're eaten will determine their effectiveness. Here are our top five fat burning foods.

  1. Salmon. Salmon has many health benefits, including the ability to reduce fat. Vitamin D, Omega3 fatty acid and selenium all help increase insulin's influence by lowering blood sugar levels. It is rich in nutrients and low calories. It is also high in good fats but low in saturated fats. This makes it a delicious meal that can be prepared in many ways. Everyone should eat fish at least twice a week. With the many health benefits that salmon offers, it should also be at their top of the food list.
  2. Turkey, chicken, and pork. Turkey is the most healthful of the three because it is leanest. However, all three contain significant amounts of Leucine, an amino acid found in lean meats. It increases your blood sugar levels and insulin, which makes you feel fuller and less hungry. Leucine can also increase the use of glucose by your muscles which could otherwise be stored as fat. Raw turkey and chicken is the best way to get maximum health benefits. The benefits of raw turkey and chicken will not be as great if they are prepared in packets. Additives may cause more harm than good. Seven ounces of turkey meat is enough to meet your daily protein needs. More controversial is pork. Pork has been called the "other white meat". However, that all depends on where it comes from and how it is prepared. The more greasy it is, it's less nutritious from a health perspective. The best advice is to limit how much you eat. However, if your food is healthy it will add variety to your meals.
  3. Negative Calorie Vegetables and Fruits. Negative Calorie Foods absorb more calories into the body than the actual food. A high level of fiber and nutrients can fill you up with energy and provide a lot of nutrition. Raw fruits will provide more nutrients and enzymes that if cooked. Apples, bananas and blueberries are some of the most popular fruits. Topping the list of top vegetables are beetroot and broccoli, as well as carrots, zucchini, yellows, onions, green bean, squash, turnips, and lemons.
  4. Negative Calorie Nuts. Nuts are full of protein and filling, and high in fat. However, the unsaturated varieties can help with weight loss if they are consumed in controlled portions. Nuts can be used to replace more traditional sources of protein and reduce calories and saturated fat in your diet. Because they contain essential fatty acids, which boost metabolism, almonds are one of the best. Peanuts (really legumes), Brazil nuts and cashews provide the highest quality protein. Walnuts can also be a great addition to your top fat burning foods.
  5. Green Tea Evidence is mounting that green tea catechins can reduce body fat. It slows down the release of carbohydrates, which prevents sharp rises in blood-insulin levels and promotes fat burning. It is rich in caffeine, which can have a thermogenic effect. However, it's much more potent in green tea than pure caffeine.

Water is another important fat-burner, along with the five top foods. Water reduces the burden on the liver. The liver can spend more time burning fat if it is less busy breaking down chemicals. These fat-fighting foods are worth considering. You will see a drop in your weight if you make them a part of your daily diet.
