How to Connect Your Bank Account to Venmo?
Your Venmo account is set up now, but there is still one more thing you need to get out of the way: linking a bank account. If you have a bank account, you will have to link it to your Venmo account so you can receive payments. Luckily, it is not that difficult, and it can be done in minutes as long as you don’t have to open a bank account as well.
Sync the Bank Information: When you’re on the home screen of the Venmo app, look for the three lines icon in the upper left-hand corner. Next, tap “Transfer Balance”. It will be found right at the top of the menu.
Select the Time: You have two different options when transferring your balance. You can either choose “1-3 biz days” or “Instant”, depending on what you want.
Verify Your Account: At the bottom of your screen, there will be a new menu popping up, named “Bank Verification”. Here, you can choose between Manual Verification and Instant Verification. Manual Verification may be necessary when you have a bank account with a much smaller bank or a local credit union. By choosing this option, you will have to provide your account number and your bank’s routing number.
Keep in mind that it may take up to three days for this method to be completed. But if you have an account with a major bank instead, you can go with “Instant Verification”. This way, you only have to sign in to your bank’s platform and connect to Venmo.
Acknowledge the Plaid Use: If you went with Instant Verification, tap “Continue” twice. This will allow you to acknowledge the fact that Venmo uses an outside application named Plaid to connect to the bank.
Choose Your Bank: From the listed banks, select the one you have your account with. If you don’t see its name on the list, you can simply use the search bar. It is at the top of the screen. But if it doesn’t pop up, return to the 3rd step and go with a Manual Verification instead.
Enter the Banking Credentials: Provide your online banking credentials, as this will allow you to connect your bank account to Venmo. Move forward by following the on-screen instructions of the bank to verify your account.
