How to delete AOL account, You cannot delete your email account without closing your entire AOL account, which means losing access to all AOL services, including AIM instant messengers. Additionally, your email and contacts will be permanently deleted after 90 days; after 90 days you will not be able to restore the account. If you are logged in with your AOL username and password, you can reactivate AOL and get back your address book
Step 1: Visit the AOL My Account page. Point your browser to myaccount.aol.com. This will load the login page.
Step 2: Sign in with your AOL username and password. You need to be logged in with your AOL account before making any changes to your subscription.
If you don't know your AOL login information, click "Forgot your password?" enter your AOL username or email address associated with your account, and fill in the verification code. You will receive an email at your associated address with a link to reset your password.
If you lose access to the email address you used to register, you will need to use the email service's account recovery service.
If you don't have an email address associated with your account, you won't be able to reset your password.
Step 3: Click the "Manage My Subscriptions" link. You can find this in the tabs above all the cryptic links to your account options near the top of the page, but below the graphic banner that states the section of the page you're currently on (My Account).
Step 4: Wait for the subscription to load. It may take up to a minute for your subscription to load on the page.
Step 5: Click the "X Cancel" button below the subscription you want to cancel. This will open a new page detailing the service you want to cancel.
Step 6: Select a reason from the drop-down menu. AOL asks you to choose a reason for cancellation. Select the one that applies most, or select Other Reasons. Any reason you choose will not affect the cancellation process, but you must choose one to continue.
Step 7: Click Cancel AOL or Cancel Billing. You will receive a message that your subscription to AOL service has been cancelled.
If you pay for AOL, you will be able to access your service until the end of your billing cycle. Once your account reaches the billing date, you will lose access to your AOL services.
Reactivate your AOL account
Reactivate your account if necessary. AOL warns that free accounts can be deleted and cannot be recovered, but also says that you can try to recover a deactivated account by logging in with your old account information. You may not be able to recover your deactivated account, or all your messages may be deleted.
